School Attendance:

1. School attendance is compulsory.
2. Learners who have been absent due to a contagious disease must produce a medical certificate
on return to school. Parents to notify the school of any contagious diseases.
3. In all other cases of absenteeism, parents must give a written explanation. Absent for 3 days or
more -A medical certificate to be provided after notifying the office.
4. Where possible, medical appointments or interviews for learners, should be made for after school.

School Times:

1. Learners must be punctual and adhere to the school times, 7:25 – 14:00, as stipulated by the
Governing body. Fridays 7:25 – 13:00.
2. No learner may leave the school premises during the school day without the permission of the
Principal/HOD.

In the Classroom:

1. Learners must strive towards a positive attitude to their “schoolwork”. Homework must be done
daily and to the best of their ability. Homework books must be signed daily by the parent /
guardian.
2. Learners must respect the interests of their peers and their actions should not be detrimental to the
interests of the rest of the class. Learners must actively support the “learning process”.
3. The relationship between educators and learners must reflect their mutual trust, regard and loyalty.
The learners must subject themselves to the authority of the educator whilst the educator will
respect the learner’s dignity.

Outside the Classroom:

1. Lining up and moving along the verandahs and passages must be done quietly and in an orderly
manner. Learners must walk in single file.
2. No running or playing will be allowed on verandahs or in toilets.
3. Learners must give way to, and greet adults respectfully.
4. Learners must enter and exit the Hall in an orderly fashion.
5. Learners must only use areas allocated to them. Certain areas may, from time to time, be
declared out of bounds and no learner may enter such an area.
6. Learners must refrain from aggressive or abusive behaviour. Any form of intimidation, bullying,
victimization, physical or verbal abuse is unacceptable.
7. Any writing on walls, desks, etc is strictly prohibited.

Appearance of Learners:

1. It is compulsory to wear the official school uniform. Learners must be neat and tidy.
2. Boys and girls may wear watches.
3. Girls may also wear silver or gold studs or “sleeper” earrings. Only one pair of earrings may be
worn at a time.
4. Fingernails must be kept clean and short. No nail polish may be worn.
5. Hair must be clean and neatly kept. Hair may not be bleached or coloured nor may hair extensions
be worn.
6. Boys hair must be kept short at all times. Hair must be of the same length, and should not exceed
2cm at any given time.
7. Whenever learners wear their school uniform after school hours, they must wear the complete
uniform.
8. Only traditional religious insignia may be worn. Modern religious “fads” or “fashion” items may not
be worn.

School Uniform

Girls
1. Green school golf shirt with a school logo, buttoned up and tucked in.
2. Green school skirt which is not shorter than two fingers above the knee. All girls may wear the
green school short that is similar to the boy’s school short.
3. Ankle length green school socks with double gold stripes, folded over once.
4. Green school jersey with V-shaped neck and double gold stripes around the neck and wrists.
5. Black leather school shoes.
6. A full school tracksuit (top and bottom) may be worn with plain black takkies or black leather
school shoes during winter season (Term 2 and Term 3) or cold days. No top or bottom may be
worn without the other, and the top must be zipped up at all times.
7. Green school bag with the school logo. No other bag may be carried to school.

Boys
1. Green school golf shirt with a school logo, buttoned up and tucked in.
2. Green school shorts.
3. Knee length green school socks with double gold stripes, folded over once.
4. Green school jersey with V-shaped neck and double gold stripes around the neck and wrists.
5. Black leather school shoes.
6. A full school tracksuit (top and bottom) may be worn with plain black tekkies or black leather
shoes during winter season (Term 2 and Term 3) or cold days. No top or bottom only may be worn
without the other, and the top must be zipped up at all times.

Sport / Physical Education:

1. School policy requires all learners to participate in Physical Education classes during school hours.
2. Learners who need to be excused from Physical Education during school hours must bring a note,
written by such a learner’s parent/guardian stating reasons.
3. Practices and matches must be regularly attended so that a team member does not let his / her
team or coach down.
4. Learners will only be permitted to participate in extra-mural sport if the correct sports uniform is
worn.
5. Learners must behave as good hosts towards all visitors. When on the sports field we always offer
our best, but play according to the rules of the game.
6. Takkies: Plain white takkies for girls and plain black takkies for boys. Grade R – 3 sport uniform
on sport / PE days.

Cell Phones

1. Cell phones may not be used during school hours (including breaks) without the approval of the
class teacher.
2. Cell phones are the sole responsibility of the owner. The school will take no responsibility
whatsoever if they get stolen or broken.
3. Should any cell phone owner infringe on rule 1, the cell phone will then be confiscated and kept in
the office.
4. Confiscated cell phones can only be collected by parents where a signature will be required for
the release of the cell phone at the end of the term.

Disciplinary Action:

1. To ensure a harmonious atmosphere, all school rules must be strictly adhered to. Action will be
taken against all transgressors.
2. Any disciplinary action will be taken in a fair manner. Learners will be given the opportunity to
defend their actions.
3. Learners are encouraged to accept more responsibility for their own behaviour.

Disciplinary Code:

Offences are graded and demerits given by the Staff. These will be recorded. If a learner accumulates
5 demerits, he/she will be ordered to attend a detention class in Friday afternoons.
Parents will be informed in writing and given full particulars. After 3 detentions parents will be summoned
to attend an interview with the relevant educator and the Principal.

DISCIPLINARY ACTION

The following actions may be taken at the discretion of the educator or school management, depending
on the severity of the misdemeanor. Records are to be kept in the learners observation file, of the
action taken for every misdemeanor.
